Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Baking tray

Ingredients

  • 5 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt, divided
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper, divided
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup chopped pickles

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Mix the cabbage, onion, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp pepper in a large bowl. Set aside.
  • Combine the ground beef, paprika, coriander, parsley, garlic powder, ½ tsp salt, and ½ tsp pepper in a medium-sized bowl using your hand. Do not overmix. Divide into 6 equal parts. Shape them into balls and then press the balls to form patties.
  • In a small bowl, mix the shredded mozzarella with the mayo and chopped pickles. This mixture should be chunky.
  • Spread the cabbage evenly on a greased baking tray. Place the beef patties on top of the cabbage, and distribute the cheese mixture evenly over the patties.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the patties are cooked through (160 F internal temperature) and the cheese mixture is melted and bubbly.
