What’s in the creamiest Creamed Spinach?
To make the best creamed spinach you will need:
- Steamable frozen spinach
- Butter
- Onion and garlic
- Milk
- Heavy cream
- Cream cheese
- White wine
- Nutmeg
- Red pepper flakes
- Parmesan cheese
How To Make The Creamiest Creamed Spinach?
- Place the frozen spinach in the microwave and cook it according to package instructions. Place it in a colander and squeeze out the most liquid you can. Set aside.
- Make the creamy part: in a medium-sized skillet or saucepan, melt the butter and saute the onions and garlic until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and simmer until reduced by half.
Add the milk, heavy cream, cream cheese, nutmeg, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste. Simmer until everything is well - incorporated and smooth.
- Add the spinach and parmesan cheese and cook until hot.
Do I Use Fresh or Frozen Spinach to Make Creamed Spinach?
You can use either. If you use fresh spinach, chop it, add it to the creamy mixture, and let it cook until wilted. If you use frozen spinach, just make sure you squeeze as much water out of it as possible. I find it easier to use frozen spinach. The result is the same!
How Long is Creamed Spinach Good For?
If you have any leftovers, place them in an airtight container and in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also make it ahead and freeze it. It keeps for up to 6 months in the freezer!

- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Place the frozen spinach in the microwave and cook it according to package instructions. Place it in a colander and squeeze out the most liquid you can. Set aside.

Notes
