I feel there are two types of people. The ones that like pancakes and the ones that like French toast for breakfast! I like French Toast better, and this recipe makes the best one ever! Crispy on the outside and soft, custardy on the inside. My mouth waters just thinking about it!
What Goes Into The Best French Toast Recipe Ever?
- Eggs
- Milk
- Granulated sugar
- Cinnamon
- Vanilla extract
- Salt
- Sliced bread ( I like to use Brioche)
- Butter
How Do I Make The Best French Toast?
- Whisk all ingredients, except for the bread and butter, together in a bowl.
- Pour the mixture into a shallow dish like a pie dish.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter to it.
- Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture if using a skillet, or two if using a griddle. Count to 10, flip and count to 10 again.
- Place the soaked bread slice on the skillet or griddle and let it cook for 2 minutes without moving it. Flip it over and cook it for 2 more minutes.
- Repeat until all slices are cooked. Serve with butter, maple syrup, or honey on top.
How Long Should I Soak The Bread For French Toast?
If you are using a soft, fresh bread, I recommend soaking it for no more than 10 seconds on each side, otherwise it would get too soggy and you won’t get the crispy exterior. For extra crunchy French toast, sprinkle granulated sugar on top of the bread after soaking it.
