Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • cup milk
  • cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12 slices bread (I like to use Brioche)
  • Butter for cooking

Instructions

  • Whisk all ingredients, except for the bread and butter, together in a bowl.
  • Pour the mixture into a shallow dish like a pie dish.
  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter to it.
  • Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture if using a skillet, or two if using a griddle. Count to 10, flip and count to 10 again.
  • Place the soaked bread slice on the skillet or griddle and let it cook for 2 minutes without moving it. Flip it over and cook it for 2 more minutes.
  • Repeat until all slices are cooked. Serve with butter, maple syrup, or honey on top.

Notes

  1. Don’t soak the bread for too long or it will become soggy.
  2. Make sure the pan or griddle is hot before placing the French toast on it.
  3. Let the French toast cook without moving it, for two minutes on each side.
