Whisk all ingredients, except for the bread and butter, together in a bowl.
Pour the mixture into a shallow dish like a pie dish.
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter to it.
Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture if using a skillet, or two if using a griddle. Count to 10, flip and count to 10 again.
Place the soaked bread slice on the skillet or griddle and let it cook for 2 minutes without moving it. Flip it over and cook it for 2 more minutes.
Repeat until all slices are cooked. Serve with butter, maple syrup, or honey on top.
