Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 425 F.
Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt) in a bowl until combined.
Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry blender or two knives until it resembles coarse sand.
Make a well in the center and pour in ¾ cup of milk. Stir it using a wooden spoon until combined. Do not overmix it. The dough should be sticky, but if you feel it is too dry, add the rest of the milk.
Transfer this sticky dough to a floured surface and add more flour on top.
Using a floured rolling pin, roll the dough into a ¾-inch thick rectangle.
Using a 2.5-3-inch cookie cutter dipped in flour, cut it into rounds. Reshape the dough until you’ve used the whole dough.
Place the biscuits on the baking sheet, and bake them for 15-20 mins until golden brown.
Brush with melted butter and serve while hot.
