Ingredients

  • 2 boxes vanilla wafers
  • 6 bananas sliced and divided
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 cups milk (I used 2%)
  • 1-5 oz box vanilla pudding
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1-14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1-12 oz container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  • Make the pudding: using a hand held or stand mixer, beat together the milk and vanilla pudding in a large bowl until thick.
  • Combine the softened cream cheese, condensed milk in a separate bowl until creamy. Fold in the frozen whipped topping. Mix this mixture into the vanilla pudding just until well combined, but do not overmix it.
  • Place the vanilla wafer cookies in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Toss 5 sliced bananas with the orange and lemon juices and spoon them over the vanilla wafers
  • Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the banana slices
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight. Serve with slices of the remaining banana, crushed vanilla wafers and shaved chocolate.

Notes

  1. Do not overmix the pudding, cream cheese, condensed milk, and frozen whipped topping mix or it will lose air and not be light and fluffy.
  2. Refrigerate the dessert for at least 4 hours to let it set properly.
  3. Tossing the banana slices in orange and lemon juice prevents them from browning.
