Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp honey

Instructions

  • Grease the bottom and sides of an 8-inch square baking pan with butter-flavored cooking spray and preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • Mix the dry ingredients (cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt) together in a bowl, using a whisk.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the wet ingredients (milk, eggs, oil, melted butter, and honey).
  • Mix the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and until well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 mins or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  • Serve with butter and extra honey on top!

Notes

  1. It is good practice to mix the dry ingredients in one bowl, and the wet ingredients in a second bowl so the batter is well combined.
  2. Drizzle a little honey and spread a bit of butter over the still hot cornbread makes it way more delicious.
