How To Make Baked Garlic Shrimp Crispy?
To make baked shrimp crispy, place them in a baking dish and generously sprinkle them with a mixture of melted butter, panko breadcrumbs, lime zest, salt, and pepper and bake them in a 425 F oven just until they turn pink, about 7 minutes. Panko breadcrumbs bake crispier than regular breadcrumbs.
What Happens if You Overcook Shrimp?
Overcooked shrimp become rubbery, tough, and dry. When shrimp cook, they curl up in a “C” shape. You want that to be a loose C and not a tight C!

Ingredients
- 1 ½ lb large tail-on shrimp peeled and deveined
- 4 garlic cloves minced
- ¼ cup white wine
- ¼ cup melted butter
- ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp lime zest
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 ½ tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- 2 tsp olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Pat dry the shrimp and place them in a bowl with the olive oil, minced garlic, white wine, salt, and pepper. Toss to combine.
- Preheat the oven to 425 F and place the seasoned shrimp in a 9x13-inch baking dish, in a single layer.
- Melt the butter and mix it with the panko breadcrumbs and lime zest.
- Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the shrimp.
- Bake for 7 minutes or just until the shrimp turn pink and start to curl up.
- Turn the broiler on high, and cook for 3 more minutes until the breadcrumbs turn golden brown and crispy. Serve with lemon juice on the side and freshly chopped parsley on top.
Notes
- Patting the shrimp dry is very important to achieve a crispy result. Wet shrimp moisten the breadcrumbs too much.
- If you can, let the shrimp marinate in the garlic/oil/white wine mixture for 30 mins.
- Do not overcook the shrimp!
