  2. Add the spices, and cook until fragrant. Pour in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, diced tomatoes (with juice), and chopped jalapenos. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. To thicken, dissolve the masa harina in ¼ cup of water and slowly add it to the simmering chili. Cook until thickened.
  5. Lastly, add the kidney and pinto beans, and cook for 5 more minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup onion diced
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 jalapeno chopped
  • 1- 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1- 14.5 oz diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 ½ tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ cayenne pepper
  • tsp ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 ½ tbsp masa harina
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1- 15 oz can kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1- 15 oz can pinto beans drained and rinsed
  • Your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sliced green onions, and sour cream

Notes
